FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRODUCTION AND DELIVERY OF ALASKA COMMUNICATIONS BRANDED YELLOW PAGES TO CONTINUE IN ALASKA

While Alaska Judge Backs Move to End Mandatory Delivery of Residential White Pages, Publisher of Alaska Communications Branded Directories Confirms Yellow Pages Will Stay

FAIRBANKS, Ala.  (November 27, 2012) — Production and delivery of Alaska Communications branded Yellow Pages will continue throughout communities in Alaska, The Berry Company, publisher of Alaska Communications branded Yellow and White Pages directories, confirmed today. The announcement is in response to a recent opinion by an administrative law judge that agreed with an argument to stop automatic distribution of residential white pages to households and businesses throughout Alaska.

“This opinion does not extend to Alaska Communications branded yellow pages , this only pertains to the residential white page listings,” said Laura Cole, company spokesperson for Berry. “The yellow pages and business white pages remain a vital part of today’s consumer buying process.”

According to Berry, its Yellow Pages are distributed to more than 156,193 homes and businesses in the Anchorage area, 60,994 in Fairbanks, 33,166 in Juneau as well as throughout homes and businesses in Kodiak, Kenai, North Pole and Sitka areas.

Recent research indicates that consumers continue to actively use the printed yellow pages, in addition to online sources, for information on local providers of products and services. Throughout Alaska, the Alaska Communications branded yellow pages is the undisputed market leader, with the vast majority of residents preferring to use its Yellow Pages most often compared to other print directories.

“We know that today’s consumers use multiple sources to find local businesses, and we strongly support digital alternatives, including our own leading local search products: YP.com, websites, online video and more,” said Cole.
